Christmas Projection Mapping - Southampton
Client: The Projection Studio, Southampton Council.
Year: December 2024 (produced in September/October 2024)

Responsibilities: Produce a Christmas themed animation that was 2.5 minutes long. There is a storyboard already produced for this, so follow the storyboard. There is also a music track for this, so use the music track to time out the animation.
The Challenge: Southampton Council would like an animation projected onto one of the gates in Southampton which leads into the Christmas Market. There is already a small video that was produced last year that will go after this video, but this new section will sit as an introduction to the area.
They would like a Merry Christmas greetings, fireworks, and elves doing some wacky stuff! It should be about 2.5minutes long.
The Solution: My solution was to build out the whole animation for this. I was provided quite a lot of Christmas assets along with a music track courtesy of Ross and Karen at The Projection Studio. I took the audio track and blocked out the show, and it was downhill from there!

The Process: The most challenging part of this piece was using Mixamo and Cinema 4d’s animation timeline to get those elves doing what I wanted. I rigged the models through Mixamo and used the preset animations to get them running, walking, and jumping. There were a few other more complicated animations like climbing down a ladder, and doing a front flip over the doors. This was one of the more complicated tasks as this is more of an extended way to use Mixamo animations, as it's linking them altogether rather than looping a single animation.
