Description:
The walk cycle is usually the first thing to be animated when you rig a character. There’s a heck of a lot that can be said about the walk cycle as this tends to help define the character. When you start with animating a walk cycle, think about the character's intentions. Ask yourself why. Why are they walking to get to that specific goal? The why here is important as it defines the kind of walk the character is going to do. Are they motivated? Are they tired? What kind of character are they? If you do not answer these questions first, then the walk cycle itself becomes generic and lacks any kind of characteristics it may need to show given the context of whatever is going on.
Use: When a character needs to walk somewhere and to show how the character acts.
