When a brand new product is revealed but the highlights are revealed first to introduce the shape of the object. This is commonly used in product reveals. Keep the background black, and bring up the light to reveal the shape of it, make sure the highlight affects the outline of the shape to get a fresnel kind of effect. It is quite a simple technique, but always feels polished.
Use: Use this as a way of introducing an object by teasing the shape of it, and to give a polished outline of the object. It’s there for suspense as well to really hype up the viewers before that reveal. Do not use it more than once in a trailer.
