Description:
Colour theory as a whole is the use of colours in your video, or graphic design. It is the choices of colours you choose to use. There are a number of tools to help you select a selection of colours to use in your video, but on the whole picking out a range of colours which suit your piece is really the goal. It comes down to the colours (obviously) but also the associated messaging that we understand with those colours.
For example, take a look at traffic lights. No matter where you are in the world, the red light means stop. The green light means go. Red is associated with danger, and to our eye is more prominent than other colours. The green on the other hand is the opposite, it means it's safe. However, these colours can have different meanings in other contexts, green can also be used to show greed.
There are a number of methods to selecting your colours and set of rules which make the process easier to select them. It's worth researching up your colours and their messaging, before you use them.
